DHFMR offers TEN SCHOLARSHIPS for 2014 – 2015 Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars Training (GCSRT) Program

The GCSRT program is accepting applications for the 2014/15 program which begins June 21, 2014. A limited number of scholarships are available from the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR) for qualified applicants from UAE and the MENA region.  In addition, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) has some scholarships available for qualified applicants currently working in SEHA-affiliated institutions, hospitals and clinics and for SEHA-supported fellows and residents. The deadline for both DHFMR and SEHA scholarship applications is March 15, 2014.

In recent years the GCC region has seen significant improvement in maternal, child and women’s healthcare provision and outcomes. In part this progress relates to a commitment to meeting the World Health Organization’s Millennium Development Goals. However, there still remain health challenges that put women and children at risk of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Additional surrounding, for example, childhood obesity, or maternal post-operative care, pose additional challenges that can be managed through awareness and prevention. This day-long workshop is designed for physicians and clinicians, healthcare policy makers, and members of the academic community focused clinical care delivery, family and community health, and health policy.
