Ibn Sina
Ibn Sīnā(ابن سینا‎), known in the West as Avicenna, was a polymath and the foremost physician and philosopher of his time. He wrote almost 450 treatises on a wide range of subjects, including The Book of Healing, a vast philosophical and scientific encyclopedia, and The Canon of Medicine, which became a standard medical text at many medieval universities throughout Europe.

MATERNAL, WOMEN’S AND CHILD HEALTH WORKSHOP: Closing the Care Delivery Gap

In recent years the GCC region has seen significant improvement in maternal, child and women’s healthcare provision and outcomes. In part this progress relates to a commitment to meeting the World Health Organization’s Millennium Development Goals. However, there still remain health challenges that put women and children at risk of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Additional surrounding, for example, childhood obesity, or maternal post-operative care, pose additional challenges that can be managed through awareness and prevention. This day-long workshop is designed for physicians and clinicians, healthcare policy makers, and members of the academic community focused clinical care delivery, family and community health, and health policy.
